Artisans of the Atchafalaya
Welcome to the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area—America’s Foreign Country. This 14-parish region in the south-central portion of Louisiana offers unparalleled natural beauty. From twisting bayous and vast marshes to fields of sugar cane and the wild Atchafalaya Basin, our area is a complex ecosystem home to alligators, black bears, numerous fish and birds. It tells the story of man and nature in an always majestic but often foreboding environment.
