The Krewe of Southdowns Parade is a beloved family-friendly Mardi Gras event in Baton Rouge, known for being the city's first nighttime parade. Held in the historic Southdowns neighborhood, this parade features a variety of creative, hand-crafted floats, music, dancers, and traditional flambeaux torch-bearers, adding a magical New Orleans-style ambiance to the local celebration. Initially dubbed the "Guerrilla Parade" due to its informal start through neighborhood backstreets, it has grown into a cherished community event. Families, kids, and even pets are welcomed along the parade route to join the festivities, which typically include colorful themes and playful floats that light up the night.
